MUMBAI-COCHIN-PERIYAR-KUMARAKOM-HOUSEBOAT-MARARI-COCHIN-BOMBAY-10
Days
Day 01:
Abroad / Mumbai
Arrival at Mumbai International Airport. On arrival,
the guest will be met by our representative and
transferred to hotel. At the hotel, the guests will
be given a traditional Indian welcome comprising of
Aarti, Tikka and Garlands. Overnight stay at the
hotel.
Day 02:
Sightseeing Mumbai
After an early morning breakfast, full day
sightseeing tour of the Mumbai city. One-hour boat
ride across Mumbai Harbor to Elephanta Island. Visit
the beautiful Elephanta Caves of the 8th century AD.
The best specimen of the caves is the
'Ardhanareeshwar' depicting Shiva as the man and a
woman. Afternoon will be the tour of the
Victorian-Gothic buildings of the British period
including the Gateway of India, Towers of Silence,
Marine Drive, Colaba Causeway and the Dhobi Ghat.
You will drive up to the Malabar Hill to the Hanging
Gardens and the Kamla Nehru Park. We will also take
you to the Mani Bhawan, a small museum dedicated to
the life and works of Mahatma Gandhi and the
bustling Crawford Market. Overnight stay at the
hotel.
Day 03:
Mumbai / Cochin / Periyar
Morning transfer to the airport for the flight to
Cochin at 0840 hrs. Arrival at 1025 hrs at Cochin.
Our representatives will transfer you to the hotel
for lunch. Thenceforth drive to Periyar, which is at
a distance of only 190 km. Upon arrival at Periyar,
check into the Spice Village Resort situated just
outside the famous Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary.
Thekkady is known for the one of the largest
wildlife reserves in India. Overnight stay at the
hotel.
Day 04:
Periyar / Kumarakom
After an early morning breakfast, we will take you
for a boat cruise on the Periyar Lake in the famous
Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary to watch the wild life in
their natural habitat. Periyar Lake is an artificial
lake built by making a dam on the Periyar River is
the center of the Wildlife Sanctuary. You may spot
the Wild Elephants, Asiatic Deer, Black Buck and
Tigers who come to shores of the lake to drink
water. Return to hotel for lunch. After the lunch,
there will be a guided tour around the Spice Village
to have a look of the various spices grown in the
garden of the resort. Later, you will be driven to
Kumarakom through the Ghats shaded by the tea
plantations. Kumarakom, at a distance of 190 km from
Periyar, is a beautiful backwater village on the
shores of the enthralling Vembanad Lake. Check into
the Coconut Lagoon, which has tarawad or cottage
almost a century old. All the cottages are
reconstructed piece by piece in accordance with
ancient rites of carpentry. Overnight stay at the
hotel.
Day 05:
Kumarakom / Houseboat
Morning can be spent at leisure at Coconut Lagoon.
You may take a cruise on the backwaters in
traditional country canoes called "vanjis". Also
visit the beautiful bird sanctuary. After lunch at
the hotel, we will take you on board the traditional
rice boats-Ketuvallam. The journey through the
bewitching backwaters and small lakes is perfect to
learn the local way of life and their daily
activities. Relax in the one bedroom house with a
lounge exclusively for you. Dinner prepared from
fresh products brought from the local markets and
cooked on board will be served. Overnight stay on
board.
Day 06:
Houseboat / Marari
Breakfast on board while sailing to Alleppey.
Disembark at Puthenagady Jetty. Proceed directly to
Mararikulam, which is mere 30 km away. Mararikulam
is one of the most ravishing fishing villages of
Kerala. It is private shallow beach ornamented with
the coconut palms. Rest of the day can be spent at
leisure with your own activities and the facilities
of the Resort. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 07:
Marari
Entire day is for you to spent with leisure
activities on the beach or make use of the
facilities of the Resort. Overnight stay at the
hotel.
Day 08:
Marari / Cochin
Arrival at Cochin and check into the hotel. Cochin
or Kochi is also known as the 'Queen of the Arabian
Sea'. Arabs, Chinese, Dutch, British and Portuguese,
all have followed the sea route to Kochi and have
left their reflection on the town. Thus the town is
a wealthy mosaic of their influences. We will take
you on a visit to the Dutch Palace, the Jewish
Synagogue, the Church of St. Francis, the Bolghatty
Palace and the famous Chinese fishing nets.
Afternoon will be spent on the Harbor cruise, as
Cochin has one of the finest natural harbors. For
the evening, we have for you the Kathakali dance
performance and the make up demonstration. Kathakali
is a 2000 year dance with more than 100 different
'mudras' or gesture depicting deities, demons, kings
and queens based on episodes from the two famous
Indian epics-the Mahabharata and Ramayana. Dinner
and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 09:
Cochin / Bombay
Morning transfer from hotel to the airport for
flight to Mumbai at 1055 hrs. Arrival at Mumbai at
1240 hrs. Transfer to the hotel where rooms will be
provided for wash and change. Rest of the day is
free for leisure. Later transfer to the
International airport for onward flight.
Day 10:
Abroad / Bombay
Late night flight to your destination thus ending
the tour here.
